This project marks the fourth Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) installation Tagmax has completed for this leading retail customer, extending a successful, multi-site partnership across their UK store network.
Located within the high-footfall shopping district at The O2 Arena in London, the store required a highly visible, reliable anti-theft tagging system to protect high-value stock, including tailored suits, shirts, and accessories, while maintaining a premium shopping environment.
The Challenge: Retrofitting an Active Retail Environment
The primary objective was to deploy a commercial-grade EAS tagging system without undertaking major structural alterations or damaging the existing shop floor.
As an established, fully operational store, the installation presented specific structural constraints:
- Zero Floor Alterations: The project required utilising existing sub-floor conduits to avoid invasive drilling or floor cutting.
- Infrastructure Integration: Cabling needed to be seamlessly routed through the current setup while maintaining a pristine aesthetic.
- Operational Continuity: Installation had to take place without disrupting daily trade, staff workflows, or customer access.
The Solution: X Clear AM Pedestal System Installation
To deliver robust entrance protection without compromising store design, Tagmax supplied and fitted a pair of X Clear AM (Acousto-Magnetic) Security Pedestals.
Key Technical Layout & Installation Details
- Door Swing Clearance: Positioned pedestals directly behind the entrance door swing to prevent physical impact and maintain unobstructed customer pathways.
- Optimal Detection Span: Installed the X Clear AM pedestals 2 metres apart to deliver complete 58kHz detection coverage across the entire doorway.
- Conduit Routing: Utilised existing sub-floor channels to conceal all interconnecting cables without cutting or drilling into the floor.
- Power Supply Infrastructure: Connected the system to a wall-mounted dedicated power supply unit via an existing floor access hatch.
- Zero-Disruption Fitting: Engineers worked around store operations to ensure a clean, professional finish with no impact on daily trading.
