Retrofitting a tagging security system for Mains of Drumin Aberdeen.
The Mains of Drum is a family run-independent garden centre, operating in Drumoak since 2009. Its growth perfectly encapsulates the products it sells – the business has blossomed, receiving many industry awards and becoming a well-known shopping destination for horticulturists of all experiences in the East of Scotland.
After understanding the nature of the thefts, we worked with Mains of Drum to create an installation plan that would see three systems installed at the key areas of the garden centre. The systems were all wide aisle tagging systems and were retrofitted – we manufactured extra-long cables to ensure optimum effectiveness.
As there are no matwells present to keep electrical cables tidy, we had to create innovative solutions to overcome this issue. On one door, we used trunking (which the client didn't initially notice), while we drilled at least 500mm through concrete floors on the other two doors to make the job look neater.
The project was completed within hours, requiring two of our engineers to retrofit the three tagging systems. The major benefit of this was that it was done during a working day, so the business did not have to close or worry about obstructions to customers.
After installation, our engineers took client staff through the easy operational steps – we're happy to say that Mains of Drum was pleased with the work we carried out and quickly adapted to a new, more effective tagging security system.
