The Brief

Seeking to upgrade their existing tagging security system, Strathberry Bags, situated in the heart of London's Covent Garden on the Kings Road, approached the team here at Tagmax based on our previous experience.

As creating bespoke security solutions is pretty much our bag, we were more than happy to work closely with the client to understand their requirements and the layout of the store before getting to work on upgrading the existing system.
Here's how we did it.

Tagging security system upgrade for Strathberry Bags.

Headquartered in Edinburgh, Strathberry are owned by a husband-and-wife team who in less than a decade have created an internationally-known brand that specialises in luxury leather goods. With Covent Garden being one of the most well-known luxury shopping destinations in the world, having a well-functioning store there is vital tothe brand – and this is where a high-quality bespoke security solution comes in.

The most obvious job of a retail tagging security system is to protect products – the placement of tags on items toallow them to be tracked if they're ever taken to a defined monitoring area (such as near an exit door). However, one of the more over looked benefits ofhaving a well-functioning system is that it can set a safe atmosphere in-store – the presence of a visible security tag is likely to deter a would-beshoplifter, while genuine customers may be appreciative of the fact that the item they're looking at is protected (after all, these are luxury items onsale!) As such, the like lihood of theft will be reduced and people will be able to browse around in comfort, not being made nervous by the sight of staff, constantly watching.

The Solution

Retrofitting a retail security system.

Essentially, 'retrofitting' means that the existing infrastructure (the framework of the system) can be kept in place while being seam lessly integrated with a more-modern security solution – savingtime and money by keeping certain elements of the old system while upgrading the quality of the system with new parts.

The system we provided was our Optimum AM pedestal – a side from this being of a much better quality in terms of tracking at a different frequency, it is also better at working with hard tags and DR 'sticky' security labels – exactly the types of tags the client uses on theirproducts.

The retrofitting phase also saw us lifting carpets and chasing floors for cable runs. We pride ourselves on our ability to install these high-quality retail tagging systems without causing too much disruption to our clients – on-site from 7am, we were finished by 10am. The client was very pleased with the work and were able to quickly get up to speed with the new system.
